Why Thin-Film Silicon?

Thin-Film Silicon Solar Panel...?

When people hear "Solar module", they often think of crystalline solar panels, but Kaneka's advanced thin-film modules are unique compared to traditional crystalline products. The cell structure is less susceptible to shadow and it offers greater design flexibility for a variety of applications. The color integrates easily into most exterior designs and it has a shorter energy payback time which provides production and resource savings.

1.To create higher energy production

Kaneka offers not only amorphous silicon thin-film solar modules, but also the new structure solar module.
Kaneka's solar panel has a tandem structure.
Its dual-layer structure of microcrystalline and amorphous silicon can capture from short to long wavelengths of the light spectrum, allowing this panel to convert even more sunlight into electricity.

2.The Thin-Film Silicon cell structure is shadow tolerant.

Unlike traditional crystalline panels, the thin-film silicon cells allow it to perform even if part of the panel is shaded*.
*The cell configuration allows it to prevent power output deterioration under shadow dropped conditions like picture below.

Due to the design of the thin-film silicon module, it is shadow tolerant.
Modules can be installed close to each other and in low angles allowing more roof coverage.

3.Thin-Film Silicon panels are ideal for low angle installations.
